Ok, I will always hold a spot in my heart my Dallas Cowboys and will cheer for them in all seasons even though I don’t like the owner. This year however, I am a BRONCO’S FAN and have enjoyed their season immensely. I know the odds were/are against Tebow as a quarterback but what a season he has had inspite of his Rookie/inexperience status. I’m proud of his beliefs and his steadfastness in those beliefs. So today, my pick for the Denver vs New England game is the Bronco’s!! Besides, my sweetheart has been a fan for 43 years, I’ve gotta support him too.

PS: Dare I tell my Texas fans how HATED the Cowboys are in the Northwest??? YIKES!! They absolutely despise Jerry Jones. I ask people who they are cheering for and they will say “who ever is playing against the Cowboys"… I do stand up for my Cowboys regardless and tell them I always will, just like Doug and his Broncos. Besides, very few NFL teams have winning seasons, year after year. Some raise to the heights of greatness only to have years in the depths of ridicule. I mean, look at the Sea Chickens, oopsie, I mean the SeaHawks!!! Just cause I live in the Northwest, I’m expected to be a chicken fan...I ABSOLUTELY AM NOT!

I have a soft spot for underdogs whether it is sports teams (GO BRONCOS), an artist (SUSAN BOYLES), an overcomer of incredible odds (ABRAHAM LINCOLN) so my question to my classmates would be, who is one of your favorite underdogs? Who inspires you because they have the gumption to keep on keepin on...geez did I just age myself??? Oh heck, you’re the same age so why do I care?

I know that Facebook has stolen and/or replaced the affections of so many of us but sometimes I long for what this website created within us because of the singular thing that connected us, we are the MacArthur Class of 1978. I found something pretty amazing here that gets lost in the other websites. I found a place that brought back the joys, the memories, the insecurities, the fun, the laughter, the tears, the boyfriends and girlfriends, the music which all adds up to the era of a time that is uniquely and solely OURS. I don’t know about you but I really don’t want my mom or my aunts and uncles to know EVERYTHING that I have shared on this site. You are all a part of my past and this site brought those of us who induldged into it, something that knitted our hearts in a way that most class reunions don’t have the priveledge to share and enjoy. Something that made us truly the Class of 1978 of MacArthur High School that I was truly proud and excited to be in a way that I never was before. I have told so many people about my 30th class reunion and the reasons why I decided to attend that reunion over all of the others. I attended because for the first time I realized what we did have in common, the fun we shared in different ways, the pride of Big Bird, Red and White...we might not have partied together back then but we all still partied in our own ways and when we had our reunion I felt for the first time in my life, I partied with YOU!!!

Anyway, before all of you ask “what the heck has Leslie been drinking????""" I guess I’m feeling a bit meloncoly and it only took Margaritas 2,3, 4 and 10 to get me here. Just kidding. I don’t know. Just wanted to say hi to all of you and tell you I miss you. Life has been hard but God has been good. Menopause hasn’t hit yet but something has...My daughter has asked me “Mama, do you need some hormones? Take some hormones, mama, and you’ll be fine” (Fried Green Tomatoes)” ....

Wacky Weather 2012

Ok, it snowed, yippee. Beautiful, fat fluffy flakes, accumulation… lasted 2 days and then we get here in the Pacific Northwest something called “The Pineapple Express”...warm, wet weather compliments of Hawaii. Melted all the snow and now we have severe flooding. I keep trying to remind myself that this is what makes Oregon so green and beautiful...hillsides are sliding, creeks are rivers, rivers are oceans...so what’s going on weather wise with all of you????

Mystery Woman, who are you?

I talked in an earlier post about an incident that happened to me when I walked in the door of the 20th reunion. I just want to put it out so if you were the person involved you can let me know, because I have no ideal who you were, but it seems as though you definitely knew me and I want to apologize to you because by your reaction I should have remembered you.
Here goes:
As I walked into the 20th reunion I had a very attractive woman (with an emphasis on very) come hurriedly up to me calling out my name. Well my wife is very attractive but other than her usually attractive women don’t come up to me excited to see me. Well I was caught off guard, not only by her looks but it was quite obvious I should have know who she was.
I stood stunned for a moment and tried to take a quick glance at her name tag so I could pretend I knew who she was all along, but even after stealing a glance at the name tag I could not figure out who she was. I guess it was partly her looks and partly the pressure I felt from what would my wife think about this attractive woman coming up to me seemingly so excited to see me. Well I completely folded from the pressure and just kind of stood there and rather quickly this woman could tell I didn’t recognize her and let out a huff and walked rather quickly off. I never saw her again that night and I thought I would never find out who she was. Well I had forgotten about the incident until Blake had posted the class pictures and the reunion pictures on another web site. I looked at the 20th reunion picture, recalled the event, but I still didn’t see the woman who approach me, though there were some real beauties there. Maybe I forgot what she looked like??? Then I looked at the class picture from ‘78 and I noticed Gayleen Shires was standing right next to me. Well we were really good friends and talked everyday back in our senior year. Well I looked at the picture and suddenly realized Gayleen meets all the criteria of that mystery woman from the 20th reunion.
She was blond (I’m pretty sure???) which I didn’t mention earlier, attractive and I should have remembered her. I thought mystery solved. I told my wife the story and apparently she didn’t witness any of it. I told her I thought Gayleen was the one and she told me to email her. Her email address was on that other alumni site. Well unfortunately Gayleen told me she was not the one and in fact had never been to a reunion at all. While I have enjoyed talking to Gayleen again, she has a very good personality. I still don’t know who you are mystery woman??? If you (mystery woman) read this let me know who you are so I can clear that mystery up and give you your long deserved apology.

BELINDA & TERRY’S PARTY!

Dear Cards: For those of you who couldn’t make it tonight - we’re sorry you weren’t with us. Belinda and Terry have a beautiful home and swim up bar, and Terry’s brisket was the BOMB, not to mention Belinda’s cold-slaw (the best I’ve ever had). I was able to reconnect with so many people that I really cared for in high school, Jr. High and even T.J. Lee(!) and a few I didn’t know so well but reconnected with and thoroughly enjoyed every moment with. Make new friends, but keep the old...one is silver and the other gold. Among us was of course Belinda, Terry, Kevin, Robin, Toni, John, Marnie, Leslie, Pam, Blake, Lonnie (Lonnie was a BAD BAD man/boy at the party), Tammy, Karen, Brent, Judy, Stephanie, Skipper and Clay - and I’m sure I’ve left some out. KEVIN offered me $200 to do the pretzel, but I didn’t bite. THANK YOU, THANK you, thank you to Belinda and Terry for such a wonderful night. It was just so special being with all of you. With Cardinal Pride, Salie p.s. Belinda’s dogs are soooo cute, I almost took one of them home w/ me. See you all soon! I can’t wait for the rest of the weekend!
